Walking in the Light of God’s Son
Loving the Lord #1 – Practicing Thanksgiving in All Things
“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’” John 8:12
In John 8:12-30, Jesus asserts that He is the light of the world and then lets the disciples know that He’s not even from this world! In His encounter with religious leaders, Jesus spoke to His identity, background, and purpose. Jesus also offers hope to those of us who follow Him. Our hope for revival and awakening is found in the God-man, Jesus.
Jesus boldly proclaimed that He is “the light of the world,” so as we encounter Him and experience His love, we experience one source of God’s transforming light.
“For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.” Psalm 36:9
“Then Jesus said to them, ‘A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.'” John 12:35
God, the Father, is longing for us to pursue Jesus because He delights in revealing more of Himself to us. Whether through worship, prayer, meditation, and study, or through the mundane happenings of everyday life, Jesus wants to be known by you!
“Enter the gates with thanksgiving…” Psalm 100:4
“In everything give thanks…” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing…” 2 Corinthians 6:10
