Hope for America: Old-Fashioned, Heaven-Sent, Holy Ghost Revival

“I am praying for an old-fashioned, heaven-sent, Holy Ghost revival that will sweep America from coast to coast,” declares young Billy Graham in this 16-second video clip captured right at the beginning of his global ministry. 

More than 60 years later, when the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association interviewed Mr. Graham in 2012 at the age of 93 for the My Hope project, he said “I am praying for an old-fashioned, heaven-sent, Holy Ghost revival that will sweep America from coast to coast.” As his health became even more fragile the last few years, Mr. Graham shared that prayer was the ministry remaining to him, and he was still “…praying for an old-fashioned, heaven-sent, Holy Ghost revival that will sweep America from coast to coast.”

Away from the Creator, America has no reference points for absolute truth, and society is left only with moral relativity — people mindlessly moving through space conflicting with one another, philosophically, sociologically and legally bouncing into one another. This nation will find revival as we turn to God. Mr. Graham’s ministry was actually laying the foundation or the framework for the revival underway in America today.

We are in a day of conviction, confession and repentance, often led by the Pro-Life Movement, as well as, incessantly selfless groups of Millennials and GenZ partnering in prayer with and receiving wisdom from thinking Boomers and their grandparents. Without judgement from man or woman, revival in our nation will allow conviction from God through His love. The goodness of God leads us to repentance, a return to Him. 

“Praying for an old-fashioned, heaven-sent, Holy Ghost revival that will sweep America from coast to coast” is more appropriate today than ever for the revival of a nation, one heart at a time. It is Revival, Now. Thank you for joining us in this prayer and anticipation.
